Skyband has together with its partners successfully commissioned a second submarine fibre link on SEACOM between Maputo and London which is now being used to restore our full upstream fibre capacity.
Here is the latest news regarding the EASSy submarine fibre cut still affecting other providers in Malawi and the region:
"The cable ship, Raymond Croze, based in the Mediterranean Sea, was mobilized for the repair on the 21st February, 2012. As the fault location is approximately 342km from the Djibouti cable station, between repeaters R4 and R5, the ship must pass through the Suez Canal.
Repair Plan Of Works (POW): It is estimated that the cable ship will reach the repair ground on the 16th March with an ETR of 21st March, 2012."
